Guide to our Appointments System

If you require a call back from a GP please ring at 8.00am in the morning on 01761 413334 on the day you can receive a phone call back.

On the day you have a medical problem, ring us in the usual way and our reception staff will take your name, best telephone number to contact you on and ask you in confidence what is the nature of your problem. We cannot give an exact time for the call back GPs’ will prioritise their own lists.

If you have a preferred doctor, please ring on a day that they are working and when possible they will ring you back.

The doctor will discuss the problem with you and work out what to do next. You may want advice, or a prescription, or you may need to come in.

The doctor will arrange an appointment if you need to be seen. Usually this will be the same day, but you can ask for a later day if this is more convenient e.g. to fit around work/allow time to arrange transport to the surgery.

There will be no need to arrive at reception requesting an appointment as you will be rung back in the same way.

Appointments to see our practice nurses e.g. for dressings, smoking cessation, blood tests, chronic disease reviews will be booked through the telephone as they are currently.

Appointment Reminders

St Chad’s and Chilcompton Surgeries offer the facility to text you as a reminder for your appointment.

We do not assume that you are happy to receive a text message as a reminder, you will need to tell us you are happy to enrol in this service.

We all change our mobile telephone numbers periodically, but please don’t forget to tell us!

Your mobile telephone number will not be shared with any other person or organisation.
Please speak to a receptionist who will be happy to take your details and sign you up for reminders by text.
