When calling the surgery to speak with a receptionist, please be aware if the lines are busy you will receive an enagaged tone.
If you happen to be on the phone with an enagaged tone which cuts you off after so many rings - this is not reception putting the phone down or cutting you off - it simply means the lines are engaged , so please give us another try in a couple of minutes.

The doctors and staff at St.Chads & Chilcompton Surgery in Midsomer Norton are proud to offer the highest standard of patient-centred healthcare.
We run many clinics for the management of chronic diseases such as asthma and diabetes and offer a wide variety of other medical services including antenatal and postnatal care, minor surgery, childhood vaccinations and well-person check-ups. All patients at our practice have a named, allocated GP and patients should contact reception if uncertain about who this is or to request a specific GP.
In addition to everything you need to know about the practice, you will also find a wealth of health-related information in the menu on the right hand side.

New Appointment System - from May 15th 2017
Due to ever increasing demand on our service, we are aware it has become increasingly difficult and frustrating for you to get an appointment with a GP, with long waits to see your preferred doctor and a struggle to get through on the telephone each morning.
Therefore, after much research we have decided to change to a system that offers same day access to a doctor, which means the concept of having to book in advance is no longer needed.
On the day you have a medical problem, ring us in the usual way and our reception staff will take your name, best telephone number to contact you on and ask you in confidence what is the nature of your problem.
The doctor will then call you as soon as possible, hopefully within the hour or at a specified time if more convenient for you. If you have a preferred doctor, please ring on a day that they are working and when possible they will ring you back.
The doctor will discuss the problem with you and work out what to do next. You may want advice, or a prescription, or you may need to come in.
The doctor will arrange an appointment if you need to be seen. Usually this will be the same day, but you can ask for a later day if this is more convenient e.g. to fit around work/allow time to arrange transport to the surgery.
Unless your problem is urgent, then it is not necessary to call us early in the morning. If possible then avoid the rush and ring later in the day as you may find there is a quicker response time later on.
If you arrive in person at reception requesting an appointment, you will be put down for a call back from the doctor as above.
We are confident that this new system will offer much improved access to a doctor and better continuity of care. Your patience and understanding as we make these changes will be most appreciated, and we welcome your feedback of the new service once you have experienced it!
